Eternal Grooves' popular series brings you unreleased studio recordings and rare live performances of the Beatles. Introducing a collection of studio versions of the masterpiece album "Revolver" that represents the mid-era Beatles.
``Revolver'',
released in August 1966, took advantage of advanced recording
techniques such as reverse rotation and looping, and the lyrics also
took on new territory due to the influence of the drug culture of the
time. With their lead, pop music transformed into rock. This is another version and making-of sound source collection of such a masterpiece.
George's
"Taxman", which is the first song on the album, is a funky rock song
with an ironic effect on the British tax system, but Paul's guitar solo
is copied at the end of the French MONO sound source song without that
mysterious opening sound effect. Acetate MIX not made. “I’m
Only Sleeping,” which features John’s languid vocals, covers both MONO
and STEREO, which are American original recordings with different
reverse-rotating guitar phrases.
Paul's
beautiful "Here, There And Everywhere", which John also praised, also
includes rare sound sources during overdubbing recording. “She Said She Said” is a home demo performed by John alone. "And
Your Bird Can Sing" is an early arrangement version with a sparkling
12-string electric guitar like The Byrds, a take without John &
Paul's laughter like "Anthology", and a mistone with twin guitars at the
end. There is also an acetate MIX that plays .
“Doctor Robert” is a MONO mix where you can hear John saying “OK, Fab” at the ending.
Also, the
core of this album, ``Tomorrow Never Knows,'' which brought about a
major revolution in rock, features a strong trip sound that makes full
use of tape loops, but it was only shipped in the first pressing of the
UK MONO edition. Contains the phantom "Matrix 1 mix" that has been lost.
From the
singles around the same time as the album, "Paperback Writer" can be
heard in Take 1, which stops midway, and Take 2, which is rough, and
"Rain" is also a different MIX with John's vocals being louder. Compared
to other albums, "Revolver" has fewer outtakes, but it includes
making-of sounds that allow you to listen to the recording process, and
the content is such that you can relive the production process of this
historic album. It has become.
It is said
that there are 3 different mixes for "Tomorrow Never Knows" and 4
different mixes for "I'm Only Sleeping", so if you listen to it with a
research book that introduces the different mixes of the Beatles, etc. I think you'll enjoy it even more.
A Japanese liner with song commentary and episodes is included on the inner jacket. Now available on digipak CD from Eternal Grooves.
