Cretaceous Spinosaur Tooth

Featured in this listing is a 4cm long Spinosaur tooth from the Kem Kem Cretaceous fossil beds of Morocco.
The Spinosaur was a huge semi-aquatic predatory dinosaur that lived just over 100 million years ago that was largely pescivorous (fish eating) and was a specialist in hunting for giant sawfish like Onchosaurus in the huge rivers that existed in its habitat.

The teeth are similar to crocodiles, being pointy and conical in shape rather than knife-shaped in order to be best adapted for capturing large fish, although in times of scarcity it did hunt or scavenge land based prey.

You may be wondering why spinosaur teeth seem so affordable compared to comparable teeth of other species you will find for sale (especially of the iconic T-Rex). The answer is that Spinosaurs, like Mosasaurs (whose teeth are also very common) shed their teeth frequently and because they spent most of their lives around rivers they were more likely to have their remnants covered in silt and sediment and end up becoming fossilised, hence fossilised teeth specimens are relatively abundant compared to those of dinosaurs that lived most of their lives on dryer land like the T-Rex.

This is good news for dinosaur fans who want to own a fossilised tooth of an iconic dinosaur without breaking the bank.

Photo shows the exact specimen you will receive.
