1981 Yamaha SG2000 Santana designed Guitar w/ Alnico V Pickups, Cherry Sunburst Finish, OHSC
Santana fans, feast your eyes! We have a unique and rare guitar to share with you today. This Yamaha SG2000 was developed with the input of none other than the legendary riff slinger extraordinaire, Carlos Santana. The tones that this guitar puts out can be heard on his landmark record “Moonflower”.
The set neck, mahogany body, and brass sustain block under the bridge were all items that Carlos insisted on for increased sustain and tone. This model sports a Cherry Sunburst Burst finish, Yamaha Alnico V Pickups, and the unique Yamaha pearloid trapezoidal inlays.
This instrument is in great condition. The neck is dead straight, and it plays fantastically at low action. The brass hardware has a bit of patina, and there’s a small, amount of play wear. One of the volume knob reflectors is missing. This guitar also has none of the common finish clouding issues that many of these instruments exhibit. There's nothing unpleasant to distract you from that gorgeous maple top. At some point the guitar has also had its push-push coil taps removed and replaced with standard pots. If you prefer to have the guitar in its native state, we can discuss options for reinstalling coil taps.
It’s been professionally setup with new strings set to play low and fast. It’s had the frets dressed, crowned, and polished. The fretboard has been throughly conditioned, and electronics cleaned.
