This beautiful ivory-colored slipper satin wedding dress dates to the 1940s. Some wonderful features include undeniably 40s style-lines, long sleeves, an illusion neckline, lace accents, button-down back, and a long, scalloped train that has several loops for carrying or bustling.

I believe that this dress would best fit a modern XXS or XS, but please refer to the flat lay measurements below.

Shoulders: 12.5in (there is a possibility it might be able to accommodate more due to the puff sleeves, but I can’t say for certain)

Pit to pit: 15.5in

Full bust measured from the inside: app. 33in

Waist: 12in

Hips: app. 21in

Sleeve length: 23in

Wrists: 3.75in (no buttoned opening)

Front length: app. 57.5in

Back length: app. 96in

This dress is still in very wearable condition despite its age! The back buttons appear to all be present and I did not find signs of shattering to the fabric. Despite the damage, I still believe that the dress presents beautifully as is and have not yet tried to have it cleaned. (I’m not sure if cleaning will lighten the color)

There are some pinholes to the illusion netting that will continue to tear if pulled upon (including at the front), but the netting could be easily be replaced, removed, or possibly left as-is with gentle wear.

The lace is in similar condition and has some holes and tears, and pulling on the lace could cause further damage. However, I believe that the lace could be left as-is with gentle wear or easily removed or replaced if desired.

There is yellowing and stains to the netting, lace, and button loops, and stains throughout the satin that I have not tried to treat, including sweat stains on the bodice, stains on the front of the skirt, and stains and marks throughout the dress overall. The buttons are functional but there is wear to the satin covers and it is splitting from wear in some areas.

There are also areas of popped seams, pinholes, texture/waviness, scuffs and wear, a repairable tear to the back closure base that could possibly be left as-is, pulls and runs, and a faint vintage/storage scent that I don’t believe to be overpowering, as well as a faint vinegar scent from the (most likely) acetate satin, please see note . The middle train’s loop also does not rest completely flat and forms an inverted conical shape (this is common in vintage wedding dresses I’ve seen).

PLEASE NOTE: I believe that the dress is still very wearable despite its flaws and have provided some photos of the above issues for reference. However, PLEASE NOTE that not every issue is pictured. I try to be thorough in my listings and believe that most issues are described. However, it is possible that I may have missed some minor ones.

PLEASE NOTE: The slipper satin in this dress is most likely acetate based and may develop a strong vinegar scent if stored in plastic. This dress will be shipped in a plastic bag within a box to protect it. Airing the dress out again should remove most of the scent.
