1961 Press Photo A landslide cut highway and rail line in Yale, British Columbia

This is an original press photo. Landslides (general) (British Columbia) - This 300-foot washout, north of Yale, British Columbia, cut highway (above) and rail line (below) when rain-swollen creek swept boulders and debris down into culvert under highway fill. Water impounded by plugged culvert broke loose with destructive force. Washout peeled rails off ties, twisting them down into canyon.Photo measures 10 x 7.25inches. Photo is dated 1-17-1961.
