The hand-painted lid features Persian songbirds, flowers. The design is quite old, indicating this item is vintage, but it is in excellent condition.

The side view shows the detail that goes into constructing these boxes. The notch shows how the box would be opened - gently but firmly grasp the end above the notch and then slide the bottom out.
