For sale today is a pro restored antique stagecoach trunk. The lid has a slight hump. Based on 50 years experience restoring trunks I would date this trunk from 1865 to 1880. The wheel brackets have a June 1865 patent date which means this trunk could be as much as 159 years old! The metal bottom is good.  The wooden patch is from a salvage trunk. There are 2 original slats on the bottom. There have never been wheels on the bottom. The 2  hinges are original, have been polished, cleared , work well and the lid closes well. The center lock has been polished, cleared, missing the top part and there is no key.  There are no mechanical or leather latches on the trunk. The center lock would have kept the trunk closed.  The tray is long gone. The interior has been removed. The metal/tin for a 100 plus year old trunk is very good condition.  There are 3 original hardwood slats on the trunk. The lid stay is new cloth. Two new leather handles were installed with the original endcaps.

The trunk is 32 wide, 18 deep, 20 high and weighs 28 lbs unpacked. Shipping options are local pickup - free, Fedex and Greyhound Bus.
