The exterior paint work is typical of Toyota at the time, it's not primed, it's very thin and slightly flaking off in places. No wonder these sheet metal parts rusted away so quickly! In my opinion the buyer would be worthwhile giving this tank a light sanding and then a modern rust-proof paint coating.
The buyer could even send this away to a fuel tank manufacturer so that they can duplicate it to help the rest of the Celica community...
I have included some pictures of the inside of the tank. I had to peel open the paper-backed tape which covered the fuel level sender opening in order to do this (have now re-taped it, sealed shut). As you can see, the inside is immaculate and unused. The drain plug on the underside has never been removed, this is not a 2nd hand, reconditioned tank.
This tank is correct for JDM and European Celica models, please ensure that you check compatibility with your Celica for yourself before buying it!
This is a must-have for Toyota enthusiasts looking to complete the restoration of their beloved Celica model.
