Pierre Lombart; 1613 - 1682, French printmaker and engraver who worked in London, Despite being the finest engraver in England in these years, he has never been the subject of any research, and almost everything about his life is still obscure.
Two fine early etchings which are bright and unfaded with black ink lines, the images measuring approximately 24 cm x 32 cm (9½ x 11¾ ins.) printed within worn platemarks and impressions on wove paper sheets 29 cm x 40 cm (11½ x 15½ ins.)
As held and can be seen at the British Museum.
Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the images is good, the sheets have soiling with edge wear, handling marks and an overall toning condusive with age.
