This is a 1991 personal check (see picture) signed TWICE by legendary BOSTON BRAVES and NEW YORK YANKEES pitcher JOHNNY SAIN.  Johnny Sain pitched for the Braves from 1942 through 1951, and for the Yankees from 1951 through 1955.  He finished his career in 1955 with a stint with the Kansas City Athletics.  When Sain was a teammate of Hall of Fame pitcher Warren Spahn with the Braves, a Boston Post sportswriter coined the phrase "Spahn and Sain and pray for rain"!  He was a 3-time All-Star, a 6-time World Series champion, and the 1948 Sporting News National League Pitcher of the Year.  Johnny Sain may be best known as the last pitcher to face Babe Ruth, and the first pitcher to face Jackie Robinson.  While in the military, Sain faced Ruth in an exhibition game, which was The Babe's last ever at bat.  Sadly, Sain passed away in 2006 at the age of 89.  This check is clean and intact, exhibiting the usual folds and bank marks.  Because this check was written for cash, the bank required Sain to sign the back of the check, too.  Both "John F. Sain" signatures are clear and legible.  This check would make a nice addition to your own collection, or it would make a wonderful gift for that Johnny Sain enthusiast, Braves or Yankees fan, or vintage autograph collector in your life!  Postage is $5.00.  And, of course I'll combine postage on multiple purchases.  Sorry, NO international shipping.  Be sure to check the other items in my eBay store, too!
