This antique cover or case is made of copper, bronze, or brass and was likely used to protect a clock or barometer or some other type of scientific instrument on an external wall.  The material has developed a significant amount of verdigris, making it difficult to determine the exact type of metal. Has a hinged door with locking nut that is too stiff to turn by hand and I dont want to force it. I think there may have been glass fitted into the door but it's long gone.  Sorry  I don't know exactly what it was for or the type of metal. Nonetheless, it is a unique, intriguing and charming piece that could easily be re-purposed or fitted again for its original use if anyone knows what that is.
