This is a truly beautiful and rare item. Clearly, it was a Special on a major home shopping network that sold out and was expensive.
Manufactured by BBJ. That's Bangkok Ratnaraj Jewelers and they manufacture some of the finest Gemstone Jewelry with the Finest Gemstones for home shopping networks and major retailers. But you won't find a strand like this at a major retailer and if you did there would be two more digits in the price.
This is actually a Rope of Pearls at 37". A Rope of Pearls is 36" and longer. I've handled enough ropes of pearl to know that many of them are Beaded instead of Knotted (meaning a knot between each pearl.)
This Rope is knotted and beautifully done with French Wire at the ends. French Wire is a tiny wire that is wrapped around the silk threads that come out of the last pearl creating a longer lasting "metal loop" at the ends instead of raw threads.) In my opinion French Wire epitomizes Fine Pearl.
I am calling these Pearls Saltwater because that is what I believe them to be based on my experience and love for Pearl and a rudimentary Surface Density Test where these pearls behaved like salt water pearls. Also, it is their natural coloration and metallic lusters. In my own personal opinion I believe they are South Sea. However, I can not rule out the possibility that these Pearls are an exotic Freshwater Pearl I'm not familiar with. One thing is for certain they are beautiful.
I'm calling them Keshi because that's the best name to describe each pearls shape. They are gorgeous. There are some flat spots on some and I have a photo of most but even the flat spots are gorgeous and there are only a handful.
