For sale is a vintage Gruen Manual wind dress watch.

Watch is in Very nice overall condition and is ready to wear. Freshly Serviced.

This model Gruen was the first watch to be worn on set during pre-production and the first day of shooting in the casino scene and when arriving at the airport in Jamaica.

The casino is where 1962’s Dr. No introduced the world to cinema’s “Bond. James Bond”. And at that London Baccarat table, we first caught a glimpse of the unknown gold dress watch peeking from under his impeccably turned cuff. Unknown, until Bond watch researcher Dell Deaton identified the watch as a Gruen Precision 510, 40-plus years after it first appeared onscreen*.

In fact, it’s thought that the Gruen was Sean Connery’s personal watch. It’s also thought that the same watch appeared in several other Connery-era films, including You Only Live Twice and Diamonds Are Forever.

Circa  Late 1950's. Swiss made.

The beautiful 33mm Gold plated case is in very good shape despite it's age. All edges are sharp.  The case shows faint surface scratches all throughout and is typical with it's age. Despite its smaller vintage size, due to its lugs the watch wears comfortably well on the wrists with its's 40 mm lug to lug measurement. The watch is 9.3mm thick.

PRISTINE, original 12-hour champagne dial with gold applied retro/stick indices. Super sharp unpolished 50's case design and construction! Original NOS signed Gruen crown. Freshly polished acrylic crystal.

Manual wind movement Cal. 510 17 Jewel  movement. Watch is in good working order and is keeping perfect time (Running approx. -6s/day). Serviced within the past year.

Gold plated case with a stainless steel snap back. Internal case back markings include Gruen Watch Co., Stainless Steel Back, Switzerland, 510
