Thomas Stothard; 1755 -1834; English painter and engraver, born in London, schooled at Acomb, Yorkshire, he was apprenticed to a draughtsman of patterns for brocaded silks in Spitalfields, and during his spare time he attempted illustrations for the works of his favourite poet.

A fine hand coloured engraving which has bright and unfaded colouring, the image measuring 14 cm x 11 cm (5½  x 4¼ ins.)

Printed on a wove paper sheet size 23 cm x 17 cm (9 x 6¾ ins.)

Unframed and unmounted, the condition of the image is good and the sheet fair with edge wear and a toning to a previous mat window.
