Edmund Spenser is one of the most well-known 16th-century
English poets. His most-famous poem, ‘The
Faerie Queene’ is one of fantasy and allegory that celebrated the Tudors
and Queen Elizabeth. Spenser explores human emotion, consciousness, and
conflict and drew much of his influence from Italian greats Ariosto and Tasso.

William Robinson Knight, 1704

Sir William Robinson (1644–1712) was a British architect, military
engineer and politician. He held several posts in the Dublin Castle
administration, including as Surveyor General of Ireland from 1671 until 1700.
He was an influential figure in the development of classical architecture in
Ireland, designing many buildings in the English Baroque-style, particularly in
Dublin. Robinson was knighted in 1702 and was appointed to the Privy Council of
Ireland the same year.
