Selling here is an uncommon Chester printed edition of 'The Church-of England-Man's Companion...', published in 1780. The present copy with all eleven metal engraved plates called for on list, including three pages of early ink manuscript family history and   'A companion to the altar', and Tate and Brady's 'A new version of the Psalms', both with separate titlepages, but continuous register.

4to, bound in 19th century calf, spine with black morocco label, five gilt decorated and ruled raised bands, all page edges speckled red. . Period marbled endpapers with early ink manuscript family history to two blue/grey leaves bound in following upper fe's. 

The book measures 22cm by 27.5cm.

The contents are unpaginated and complete the final leaf being 3Y2, with all eleven metal engraved present as called for on list. 'A companion to the altar', and Tate and Brady's 'A new version of the Psalms', both with separate title pages.

Condition: The binding is holding firmly and is in good condition, with some general wear to surface / extremities from handling, scuffs to spine, boards and edges, hinges rubbed but not cracked. Contents are firmly bound and in good clean condition, lightly toned and with foxing to a minority of leaves, light water stain visible round lower quarters, old ink ownership to head of title. Front free endpaper pulling away, partly torn down inner edge.
