Sugarcane - the origin of sugar!
Fresh sugarcane can be used to make juice by passing through a manual or electric press. More simply, one can remove the outer layer with a sharp knife and chew the remaining internal part of the cane to extract the sweet delicious juice.
The canes are not only used for their juice. but also in culinary preparations. They can be divided into thin sections and used as a natural skewer to impart a natural flavour onto the meat, fish and vegetables added to the skewer.
Some bartenders split the cane into thin narrow pieces and add them to cocktails to be used as a stirrer.
