After upgrading my audio equipment (to a Cambridge Audio Edge A integrated amplifier + MXN10 streamer), I’m selling this unique setup: a Wadia 151 PowerDAC mini with its partner Wadia 170i Transport, both complete with their original boxes, iPod adapters, cables, manuals, remotes (and a pair of spare remotes -one is the upgraded version from a 171i- which I bought for over 250€). Also included is a high end full linear 12v power supply unit for the 170i from KingRex, with a custom made Kimber Cable power cable.

All the components were very well taken care of, and work flawlessly.

The Wadia 170i Transport is also compatible with iPhones/ iPads, by using a Lightning to 30 pin Apple adapter (not included).

Wadia’s 151 PowerDAC mini is a DAC, pre-amp and power-amp rolled into one box.

There are four inputs, all digital: USB, optical and two coaxial, and one output (for the loudspeakers).

Amplification is fully digital, but this is no standard Class D implementation. All incoming data is up-sampled to 24-bit/ 384kHz, using Wadia’s DigiMaster recipe.

The PCM stream is converted to PWM, which in turn is digitally amplified to drive the loudspeaker output stage.

An interesting feature is that it can sample/ show the data rate on the display (useful to confirm the input quality/ configuration…).

Power: 25Wpc @ 8 ohms, 50Wpc @ 4 ohms

Inputs: four digital audio (USB, 2xSP/DIF-coax, Toslink-optical)

DAC Maximum Data Rate: USB—24-bit/96kHz, other inputs can accept up to 24-bit/192kHz

Signal-to-noise: 103dB

The Wadia 170i Transport is a docking station for outputting analog and digital audio and video signals from an Apple iPod, iPhone or iPad (with a 30 pin connector), and from iPhones/ iPads with the Lightning/ 8 pin connector (using a Lightning to 30 pin Apple adapter).

Input: Apple 30 pin; includes various shells that fit different iPod sizes

Digital output: S/PDIF (coaxial)

Analog output: single-ended RCA.

Video output: S-video, component video (RCA).

The Wadia 170i bypasses the digital to analog conversion and analog output stage from an iPhone / iPad (see above) or iPod and provides a pure digital audio output, only limited by the resolution of the audio files stored in the Apple device, and the overall quality of the rest of the audio system.

As a bonus it is also able to jump-start the (low or even flat) battery in an iPod, unlike regular cables/ power connections.

It was further improved by adding a full linear power supply: KingRex PSU (with a 45VA toroidal transformer coupled to a full-fledged regulatory circuit, which comprises, among other electronic components, eight high-quality Nippon Chemicon aluminum electrolytics, 5 x 2200uF at the AC input stage, 3 x 4700uF at the DC output stage) connected to the 170i with a cable (custom made in the UK) from Kimber Kable.
