In Chinese culture, each animal is believed to influence the personality of the people born under its ‘rule’. The most powerful and noble of all the Chinese Zodiac animals, the Dragon is the long-revered symbol of great power and good fortune, and it is surrounded by auspicious symbols on this stunning 99.9% pure silver 1 oz coin.

The Dragon is the fifth sign of the Chinese Zodiac. The Dragon is a symbol of power and wealth and is believed to bring good fortune and prosperity. People born in the year of the dragon have a natural charisma, ambition and determination. They are natural organizers, known for their positive attitude and vibrant personalities. The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar dragon include 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000 and 2012.

The reverse of each coin depicts a traditional Chinese dragon, a long, scaled, serpentine creature with four legs, and a "pearl of wisdom". The Chinese character for "dragon" and the inscription "Year of the Dragon" also appear in the design with The Perth Mint's traditional "P" mintmark alongside the Bavarian Lion Privy Mark in which mintage was limited to 200,000.

As well as appealing to silver coin collectors, this outstanding release also makes a great gift for people born in any year "ruled" by the Chinese lunar dragon.
