The volume has a mix of 15 papers related to the biology of the region and to the history, sociology, and mapping of the region: archaeology, early inhabitants (Caddo people), plant ecology, and animals:  molluscs, fish, amphibians and reptiles, birds, mammals.

         The keynote address, opening and closing remarks were made by Dan Flores, who in the 1980’s wrote the books, Jefferson and Southwestern Exploration, and Southern Counterpart to Lewis and Clark: The Freeman and Custis Expedition of 1806.
