2 EXC ORIG TARZAN THE FEARLESS & CHANDU ON THE MAGIC ISLAND BELA LUGOSI 1940s 35MM TRAILER CLIP/CELS

Incredibly rare item for the vintage film collector and movie serial buff. Two nearly impossible to find 4.5 inch long 35mm B&W filmstrips featuring six frames from the “datestrip” or “trailerette” - a single image promotional trailerer - to the two feature versions of two classic serials, TARZAN THE FEARLESS (1933) starring Buster Crabbe and CHANDU ON THE MAGIC ISLAND (1935), from the serial RETURN OF CHANDU, here mistakenly called CHANDU OF MAGIC ISLAND. These trailers were produced by the legendary FILMACK of Chicago in the 1940s, with each originally running about 10 seconds to promote the theater's coming attractions, These brief “trailerettes” each featured a unique, striking title card like image (along with musical soundtrack) promoting the upcoming attraction. Such films are extremely rare (as they were usually discarded after the playdate). TARZAN THE FEARLESS strip has a striking image of the film's logo topped with the tagline “The Screen's Biggest Thrill” with star Buster Crabbe noted beneath. CHANDU ON THE MAGIC ISLAND (or as titled on the trailerette CHANDU OF MAGIC ISLAND) has an amazing graphic of the eyes of Chandu sending out mystic bolts with a bold title logo and star BELA LUGOSI credited beneath. Both clips are in pristine condition and ideal for mounting and framing. A true rarity for the golden age serial, Tarzazn and Lugosi fan.
