Aphrodite the goddess of love and beauty is possibly one of the most well known gods from Greek mythology.

When designing the statue I wanted her to be a celebration of Beauty and elegance, I chose a seated pose mainly because I rarely sculpt figures sitting or reclining. When sculpting her legs I paid attention to how the upper leg flattens and distorts slightly the lower leg, this was without doubt the most difficult part of the sculpture for me to get right, there was much head scratching and frustration before I got the look I wanted.

The figure has some strong muscle definition in her back and arms, clearly the gods have access to the local Greek gym to keep in shape.

The sculpture features natural and realistic details like the creased skin around her neck, highly detailed hair featuring hand sculpted strands on the sides of her head.

The sculpture has a lifelike skin colour finish to it, this involves multiple layers of colour carefully added and blended together, all finished with individual hand drawn freckles and imperfections for that ultra realistic look.

The base features a beautiful portrait of Aphrodite on each support, the entire base has been carefully weathered and finished with a stone texture and marble like insert on top to compliment the statue perfectly.
