Barbie's neon orange dress glowed under the disco ball while she did the Frug!   Disco Dater features a comfortable satin drop waist dress with a skirt of tiny knife pleats, and was only available from 1967-68.   A sleeveless orange lacy vest gave Barbie the option of more or less coverage as the dance floor heated up!  This Disco Dater outfit does show some age and wear on its fragile satin fabric, so if you're a "Mint" collector, this outfit isn't for you.  But it does still look nice on display:)  This Disco Dater outfit is in Excellent and Complete condition:  it includes the dress on a clear plastic dress form, orange lacy vest, and rare translucent orange closed toe shoes.    I don't rate anything as "Mint" unless I've just taken it out of the original packaging.  I've collected vintage Barbie for 30+ years, and I scrutinize items I sell on eBay.  If you have a question that my description hasn't answered, please ask me:)  You may want to save me as a seller, as I'm selling a large vintage Barbie collection on eBay.

This neon coral orange dress doesn't have any rips, tears or frays, and the snap closure is intact at the back.  The dress has a small dot of soil visible at the center front, but the vest will cover this on display.  I notice slight soil at the seam above the piping trim between the skirt and bodice.  There is also light soil over the snap closure at the dress back.  The fabric could use a little more steaming, as it has a bit of wrinkling.  The knife pleats aren't perfect, but generally look pretty good.  I do like the hot pink satin piping detail at the drop waist seam.  The dress' shoulder straps are lightly soiled, especially at the back.   The vest looks good in front, though I notice that the raised thread that outlines the flower pattern has darkened slightly.  At the vest back, this raised thread is darker than on the front, especially at the back neckline trim; I don't know if it is soil and/or play wear, see pic #5.  The button and elastic thread are still at the vest back, though the elastic is a bit stretched and fragile.  The rare neon orange closed toe shoes are translucent, not the typical solid orange color.  They are marked Japan on the soles, they don't have any cracks.

Disco Dater will look adorable on your vintage Barbie!   Please see my other auctions for a vintage Barbie outfits and clothing lots, for Francie doll's Tweedsomes outfit and clothing lots, and for other vintage toys from the 50's - 70's.  I'm happy to combine shipping charges for multiple purchases:)
