1934-1984 50th Anniversary Duck Stamp FDC of RW17 1950 TRUMPETER SWANS by Walter A. Weber

Cancelled in COLUMBUS, OHIO, MARCH 1, 1985

This beautiful First Day Cover features Trumpeter Swans pair in flight by Walter A. Weber for the US Federal Duck Stamp issued in 1950. The 20 cent and 2 cent stamps are in VG/F (Very Good/Fine) condition, Scott #2092 "Preserving Wetlands", a reproduction of Jay "Ding" Darling's artwork for the first US Duck Stamp celebrating the 50th anniversary of the US Duck Stamp Program. The companion upcharge 2 cent stamp is 1982 Scott #1897A "Locomotive 1870s". Each cover in this Fleetwood series collection is postmarked in a different US state on the precise anniversary of statehood. Each duck stamp and postmarking state is combined to recall the order in which the state entered the Union and the order in which the duck stamp was issued. This is a great addition to any stamp collection, especially for those interested in ducks and postal history.
