Minolta
HS 200mm f/2.8 APO G
Telephoto Lens (Sony Alpha Mount)
High Speed
Version
Near Mint Condition
If you're viewing
this listing then you probably have a pretty good idea as to what this lens is
all about. But if you don’t, here’s a quick primer: This lens is one of the
finest that Minolta ever offered from their elite “G series” of
lenses. Amongst Minolta wildlife photographers, the G series is the #1 choice
for shooting wildlife and is also a great lens for shooting sports. Perfect
focal range, sharp at all apertures, great bokeh and this 200/2.8 is still
lightweight enough to be portable and hand held. I’ve used the Minolta 1.4x APO
teleconverter and extension tubes and produced some nice macro shots with it
even.
This is an Alpha mount lens
and will require an adapter for use with Sony E mount camera bodies.
This lens (S/N 212010xx) is in near
mint condition.
Optically, the lens is pristine. All
glasses surfaces are perfect. No fungus or haze, and the aperture blades are
oil free and snappy. There are a couple of inconsequential dust specks inside
the lens.
Cosmetics are very nice. There are a few
spots of wear to the white enamel shown in photos, but overall, this is a great
looking lens.
The built-in locking hood and focus ring
cowling are nice touches. Both operate as they should, and the AF is fast,
accurate and torquey on this lens. There are two versions of this lens, and
this High-Speed version has the quickest AF.
With the cost of E mount telephoto lenses,
I am surprised that more photographers are not opting for an LA-EA4 and a
vintage Minolta APO lens on their E mount body, as I have been doing with my old
Minolta lenses.
Caps included.
