The Amazing Spider-Man #151, titled "Skirmish Beneath the Streets!" and published in December 1975, is a significant issue for a couple of reasons. It marks the beginning of a new era for Spider-Man with writer Len Wein taking the reins and the artistic team of Ross Andru and John Romita Sr. This issue also features the cover art that pays homage to a classic Amazing Spider-Man #33 cover.

In the story, Peter Parker, still shaken by the events of the Clone Saga, disposes of his deceased clone's body in a furnace. Believing this to be the end of the ordeal, he attends a celebratory engagement party for J. Jonah Jameson's son, John Jameson, and Mary Jane Watson. However, the festivities are interrupted by a citywide blackout caused by the villain Shocker. The issue ends with Spider-Man confronting Shocker underground, leaving the reader with a cliffhanger.
