So, rather an unusual one..

Had this for around 15 years or so, came with a Post WW2 peaked cap and sold by the notorious faker ‘Military Trader’ if they’re even going under that, one of the many eBay ID’s I’m sure.

Took me a while to figure out, but it was clearly a put together grouping. I believe that extends to the pencil markings on the rear of the frame..

However, I do believe that the frame and the enclosed pictures of the airman are indeed genuine, as the frame doesn’t look to have been tampered with since it was put together. I’ve not seen another quite like it but everything aside from the pencil annotations seems period and genuine.

What we have is 2 framed original photographs of an unidentified airman C. 1940, though judging by the type of parachute harness he is wearing it’s unlikely he had anything to do with the hurricane pictured on the scroll. The scroll itself appears to have gold leaf around the crest and a King’s crown.

Please note the back of the frame has pulled off, it was only loose on one corner when I got it, conveniently revealing the pencil inscription. It has come loose over time.

Nonetheless, an unusual period frame and 2 aircrew pictures C. 1940.

I haven’t got it to hand at the moment, but it’s about the size of an IPad. I’ll update measurements soon.

Please study images carefully as they comprise part of the description.
