1942-1944, Choice About Uncirculated (my opinion), Burma (Myanmar), Japanese Goverment issued, Japanese Invasion Money (JIM) issued by the Japanese Military Authority during the Japanese occupation of Burma (Myanmar) in the Second World War. It's referred to as Sculpture Currency. It was issued by the  Central Bank in Imperial Japan.

N#202411, variety 15b, 2 double block BBs. It measures 151mm x 71mm and is grey/green in color. The obverse features a coconut palm tree on the left, a pawpaw tree, wagons & cattle on the right with the Ananda Buddhist Temple in Bagan, in the Mandalay Region. The oblong box at the bottom reads, "Government of Great Imperial Japan" and the contents of the seal comprise the Japanese symbol for the Minister of Finance. The reverse features a design of Guilloches and art Nouveau with three number "5"s. It's watermark is a quatrefoil (four leaves), a decorative symbol of four partially overlapping symmetrical shapes or circles of the same size and diameter. I believe the shapes may be Kiri flowers.

I have owned this note since the 1970s and I never displayed it. It has been stored, out of light, in a smoke free home, since purchase 50+ years ago. The note is 80-82 years old. Choice About Uncirculated condition is my guess. You barely can see some slight vertical fold marks, yet it lays completely flat from 50+ years of flat storage. Corners are mostly square (see photos). Please study all of the photographs carefully. I purchased this note from Mystic Stamp Company in the 1970s.

"The Japanese invaded Burma in January 1942. They conquered Mandalay on May 21, 1942, forcing the British to retreat into India. The Japanese held Burma until the second Allied campaign of 1944, although an official surrender did not take place until August 1945. In 1942, the Japanese issued paper sculpture currency of 1, 5, and 10 cents and Re.14, Re.12, Re.1/-, Rs.5/-, and Rs.10/-."

The photos above are of the actual note you will be bidding on, that I personally took with a phone camera. I NEVER utilize deceiving stock or goofy, "kind of looks like this" or "representative" photos that many other sellers rely on.

*DISCLAIMER* I am not a notaphilist or even casual collector. The catalog #'s, grades, years and centering are all "educated" guesses based on internet research. I feel the prices are based on the lower values of these notes. If a rare one is included, hats off to you, you benefit. If they're all low end, I feel you still get a fair value and a fine addition to any collection, especially beginner ones. I sell based mostly on the photos. If you feel I have deceived you in my description of the item(s), I will reimburse your purchase price as long as you have adhered to all of eBays rules. Thank you very much for your patronage or inquiry.
