(August 24, 1890 – January 22, 1968)
Father of Modern Surfing!
Duke Kahanamoku was a Hawaiian Competition Swimmer
who popularized the Sport of Surfing.
A Native Hawaiian, He was a 5-time Olympic Medalist in Swimming,
Winning Medals in 1912, 1920, and 1924.
later he was a Hollywood Actor, a Lifeguard saving lives in SoCA,
the Sheriff of Honolulu, a Gas Station Owner, etc.
and especially a Hawaii and Surfing Ambassador.
