BIOGRAPHY OF JAMES HOYT

James Hoyt was born in Greenfield, NY, in 1817. After attending Union College, he completed his studies at Union Theological Seminary from 1841 to 1844. He was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in April, 1846, and served as acting pastor in Harlem (1844) and in Stanwich, CT (1845).

From 1846-1849 he was a pastor in Tuskegee, Alabama, and he later lived in Talladega, AL; Stamford, CT; and New London, CT. For the last ten years of his life, he was pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Orange, NJ; he died in December of 1866.
