RARE and collectable Stonebridge real ale mug tankard cup. Very striking and wonderfully made by Stonebridge pottery.
Excellent condition - no obvious chips or cracks.

As with all handmade studio pottery, it has a rustic appearance, complete with blemishes from the creative process, which is what makes studio pottery so charming. This is really a lovely example. It is vintage, so some aging is to be expected, but this is in excellent condition. This has obviously been a very cared for piece and doesn't appear to have been used but as a display item or stored away unused fro many years.

Courtney Davis's Stonebridge Pottery operated out of Walsall, West Midlands between 1976 and 2007. This gorgeous piece is decorated using the 'sprig' system of attaching a decorative medallion to the body of the mug which remains unglazed whilst the body receives a natural wash. There is a lovely rich dark brown glaze inside.
