Bulters Ambulance Searchlight - BL 896

Rare WWII British searchlight made by Butlers Ltd of Atlantic Works, Grange Road, Small Heath, Birmingham.

It has a mesh grill and a rotary switch on top. The main body is approximately 8 inches in diameter with a handle at the rear. The upper surface has a small brass badge indicating the model number, 'BL 896'.

I've shown images of Butlers wartime 'Atlantic Beam' product range (images only), one from 1942 and the other from 1944, the former describing BL 896 as a 'searchlight', the later describing it as an 'ambulance searchlight'.

It has been tested and is in good working order, including the rotary switch. The important bit, the reflector, is in nice clean condition, as is the glass and is currently fitted with a 12v bulb (Very bright with great beam).

Paint loss, dings and scrapes as shown. New cork glass seal fitted. Weight is 3.9kg before packing.

A rare example of a WWII searchlight.
