This is a group of 5 Canal Zone 105s with printed precancels, identified by Bill Conroy, a CZ stamp dealer who passed away in 2010. Using the Canal Zone Study Group types, the 1st is Type 3 (F/VF), center top is Type 3, 1st replacement plate on a wet printing 105 (almost F/VF) and right top stamp is a dry printing 105 (F/VF); the bottom two are both from the 2nd replacement plate, F/VF NH and almost F/VF NH (NOTE: the one at right is NOT from the so-called 3rd replacement plate, as Bill thought it was. (The real 3rd repl plate has a 1.1 mm spacing between CANAL and ZONE, which this does not). Still useful for identification and collectible as precancels. A great addition to a Canal Zone collection.
