The best example of a WW1 German or Prussian metal (aluminium?) water bottle or canteen I've ever seen. Includes the original small metal cup tied on with original string.

Superbly decorated by the German infantryman - Wehrmann Bahr of the 4th Company Infantry Regiment Number 13 (from the Province of Westphalia), with his battle dates on the rear - 1914, 15 & 16 (I wonder if he made it home, was a prisoner or was injured or killed - since it stops in 1916?)

The superb "trench art" decoration has the Prussian Eagle on the front surrounded by foliate decoration with his name above and regiment below. The rear has "Erinnerung an das Kreigs-Theater" (remembering the war theatre) with the dates 1914, 1915-1916 and surrounded by foliate and bow designs.

Well worn with some scratches and dings, has lost its cork, the small cup is attached by very old string and is a bit bashed and dented - proper battle wear!

A rare and high quality piece of history
