TubeMuseum tested tubes takes the guesswork out of the process of selection delivering you the best Audio tubes that there possibly can be.
Question: I see various colors for the RCA name on the base of the tubes.... some are white, orange, and yours appear to be red. They are all Black base from the 1950 and 1960's. Are they all the same exact tube ( sound wise)?
Answer: I wouldn't know unless I listened to each individual pair. The way a tube tests is important and that they are matched in tube-gain or what is called Mu, and Plate Resistance or what is called RP Ohms, as well as DC Plate Current. So, unless you heard several vintages ALL with the SAME EXACT test results it wouldn't be a fair comparison, now would it? RCA changed the lettering color from white to red usually from 1950's to 1960's. The orange is the red that has naturally faded. You can be assured of receiving the best tubes from The Tube Museum because we accurately test and report the true test results. Sound is subjective and everyone hears differently and has different gear, preamps, speakers, and where the speakers are placed in a room also play a major part in room-acoustics. Try putting a speaker in a corner and the bass will increase, if a speaker is by an open hallway or open door that will affect the sound of a room. Wire, the other tubes, your delivery-vehicle; DAC, CD, turntable, headphones, etc. all play a part in the way a tube sounds. Also, NOS tubes needs to burn-in for 40 to 60 hours before they wake up from their 1960's deep-sleep to really shine.
