OMEGA CHRONOSTOP  Ref: 145.009. Unique Set !

Purchased August 1968

The Omega Chronostop won the 1967 Swiss Watchmaking Federations' Honour Prize for 'chronographs & sport watches'. It was also awarded 1st prize for Industrial Aesthetics at the Utrecht Spring Fair in '68.  The model also became the official Omega timer at the Pan-American Games in Winnipeg and the Olympic Games in Mexico in 1968.

CASE

The 35 mm case is simple and elegant and features a subtly sloping front with the original Radial brushed finish and polished sides

The case extends slightly down to the lugs providing an integrated look by partly concealing the bracelet or strap connection.

The case shows only the merest signs of use, hinting at the likelihood that the watch was little worn over the years.

Omega flat-topped Hesalite Crystal with the etched Omega logo still just visible in the centre

Original Omega signed Crown, and pusher.

DIAL

This does bear looking at closely as there’s much Detail and Design to admire;

Designed for maximum legibility & simple operation, the all Original Grey ‘Racing’ Dial has a Reverse Pie-Pan design with a sunken centre section.

Bright, Wedge shaped applied hour markers.  These markers also have a luminous dot on the outer edge.

The Omega logo appears in orange

The hour and minute hands are Black in the centre, changing to a high contrast White for maximum readability on dark dials, with luminous inserts.

High Contrast Orange Hand for 60 second timing

MOVEMENT

This model uses the high-beat ( 21,600bph ) Calibre 865 movement.  Derived from the Lemania base movement that would also go on to power Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch models

Widely regarded as being highly accurate

Bracelets

Pictured on the much rarer, Genuine Omega 1118 bracelet with 123 end links.  In great condition with adjustable Clasp.  However the Watch also comes with its Original Milanese Steel bracelet in excellent condition, which also looks superb on the watch.

The owner also purchased a Leather strap fitted with the Omega Deployment Clasp

No. 1120/116, which remains Unworn !

Most unusually the Watch comes with its Original Box - specially designed to mark the Mexico Olympics of 1968.

Finally, the set is completed by the Original Documentation containing reference and serial numbers of the watch, purchasers name, and operating instructions

A totally unique Set, probably not to be found anywhere !
