The "Different and Deadly" Punisher, who has now starred in three feature films, the Daredevil Netflix series and most recently a Netflix series of his very own, makes his first appearance on the cover of this important 1974 issue. Having a villain that was an assassin doesn't seem so different, but having one gradually emerge as a hero was something new in comics in 1974. The popularity of the Punisher skyrocketed into Spider-Man and X-Men territory, and contributed to an industry shift toward more violent and gritty material. That shift, and the Punisher's popularity, endures to this day. The offered example is pristine and has been graded Near Mint/Mint 9.8 by CGC. Adding to its desirability, the pristine condition is further enhanced by newsstand-fresh White Pages.
