This is a unique set of 2 antique "Girl & Fawn" bronze plated bookends, 9 1/2" tall. The bookends are made of some heavy material, probably plaster, and are plated with bronze to look as if they are made of bronze. This was done in a process of electroplating, when a thin layer of a metal is put on another material. Thanks to this process the items were available to a wider audience, being more affordable than solid bronze objects. The bookends are heavy, each weighs about 3 lb 15 oz. They are well made and are titled "Girl and Fawn" on the back. Both bookends have a nice patina, which is a sign of age. The bookends are in a good used condition. One of them has some peeling of the top layer in 2 spots at the bottom of the fawn's legs (see photos # 21, 22, 23).
