Graded 2.0 with off-white pages by CGC (4218097001). The "Man Without Fear" got his start in this presented copy of Daredevil #1, published by Marvel Comics in April of 1964. Created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett, Daredevil #1 tells the origin story of Matt Murdock, a lawyer from Hell's Kitchen, New York City, who was blinded as a child after he pushed a man out of the way of an oncoming truck carrying a radioactive substance. Though blind, his exposure to the radioactive substance spilled from the truck heightens his remaining senses beyond standard human capacity, giving him a "radar sense" that allows him to "see" the world through his other senses. Murdock was raised by his single father, a boxer named Jack Murdock, who wanted better for his son and made the young Murdock promise not to resort to violence to solve his problems. Matt Murdock begins to train to hone his skills under the tutelage of an older man named Stick after gangsters murdered his father after the elder Murdock refused to throw a fight. Murdock becomes a skilled martial artist under Stick. After graduating from Columbia Law School, he begins to clean up the criminal element in Hell's Kitchen. He embarks on his double life as a crimefighter by targeting and bringing to justice the men responsible for murdering his father. Matt Murdock dons a costume and the secret identity of "Daredevil" to bring people to justice for their crimes while still adhering to the nonviolent promise he once made to his deceased father. This offered issue features the now-iconic cover illustrated by Jack Kirby and Bill Everett that features Daredevil in his orange and red costume and is noted for the introduction of Murdock/Daredevil's girlfriend, Karen Page. Foggy Nelson, his friend and partner in the law firm Nelson & Murdock, makes his first appearance in this historical issue.
