1986 Press Photo Steam Engine at World Exposition in Vancouver, British Columbia

This is an original press photo. A 1913 Case steam engine is fired up once more, this time for crowds at the 1986 World Exposition in Vancouver, British Columbia. The powerful steam engine, responsible for immense advances in agricultural productivity in the early 1900s, is featured during "Vintage Steam Festival" days at Expo 86. "Vintage Steam Festival," May 23 through June 1, is a tribute to steam power - the force behind the Industrial Revolution. This is the first gathering of such a wide range of steam powered-machines since the Chicago Rail Fair of 1948. Machinery ranging from a fully restored tugboat to a steam-powered piano to an assembly of 28 operating steam locomotives will be demonstrated and displayed at locations throughout the Expo site. Visitors can learn more about these attractions through literature available at the Expo during "Steam Festival" week.Photo measures 10 x 8inches. Photo is dated 05--1986.
