JAMES PAUL McCARTNEY" was first broadcast in 1973 (April 16 in the U.S. and June in the U.K.) as a one-hour special program featuring live studio and stage performances. After Northern Songs and ATV, which controlled Paul's copyrights under a contract that had been in place since his Beatles days, objected to the fact that several songs on the 1971 album "Lamb" under Paul & Linda McCartney's name were co-written with Linda, it was decided to produce the album as a settlement of a lawsuit filed by Sir Sally Liew-Glade of ATV. Although it is a "made program" in the sense of the term, it is a well-crafted program that incorporates Paul's taste for moderation. It was produced just before the release of "Red Rose Speedway" and included songs that had not been released at the time of broadcast. The opening song, "Big Barn Bed," opens with the curtains opening and the band being greeted by the audience projected on a stack of monitors. Profiles of the band members are shown with subtitles. At the end of Paul's slightly impersonal profile, "Comments" is displayed, and a live Paul says "Good Evening," which is a great moment for fans to be impressed. In the studio section that followed, Paul played a medley of "Blackbird," "Bluebird," "Michelle," and "Heart Of The Country" on acoustic guitar in front of Linda, who was holding a camera. The Beatles' numbers, which they had not performed live, were not even recorded at this time. The Beatles' number "Bluebird", which had not even been recorded at that time, is performed. After that, a promotional film is shown. The set was changed for each song, and the representative songs of the WINGS were performed. Gotta Sing Gotta Dance" was composed in 1968 for a musical starring Twiggy. It is famous for the image of Paul dancing with a female dancer on the right half of his body and a male dancer on the left half, wearing a mustache, a pink tailcoat, and tap shoes, and many people may remember this scene (the scene in the jacket photo of this work) first when they think of this show. The last part of the show is a live scene that brings the hard side of WINGS to the forefront. This was recorded in the studio with audition on March 18, 1973, and "Hi Hi Hi" was broadcast only in the UK. The main source of this album is the American version, but "Hi Hi Hi" is also included in this album as a special feature. The last song "Yesterday" is played in response to a request from the band members to close the program.
