THIS PIECE WAS FOUND IN A LEGIT CASTLE IN SARDINIA ITALY ALONG WITH OTHER PIECES BEING OFFERED THIS WEEK.
DATING TO THE 1870’S
FASHIONED OF A HIGH SHINE BLUE SILK SATIN THAT HAS A DULL CLOUD PATTERN TO THE WEAVE.
BUTTONS CLOSE UP THE FRONT WITH BAND COLLAR ENCIRCLING THE NECKLINE. THE FULL BOTTOM IS IN PIPED EDGED TABS FULLY AROUND WITH A BUSTLE BACK REAR.
LACE FRILLS TRIM THE COLLAR AND CUFFS WITH THE BOTTOM CUFF MEANT TO BUTTON CLOSED.
INTERIOR IS LINED IN A GLAZED COTTON WITH A BLACK INNER PETER SHAM HAVING THE ITALIAN MAKER.
CONDITION: ALL OF THE BUTTONS WERE REMOVED. 24 BUTTONS WOULD BE NEEDED FOR THE FRONT WITH AN ADDITIONAL 8 FOR THE CUFFS.
SMALL SCUFFED WEAR IS SEEN IN SMALL POINTS TO THE SILK ON THE FRONT AS WELL AS ON THE CHEST, HARD TO NOTE. STITCHED EYES ARE ON THE HIGH LEFT SIDE AND WERE PROBABLY FOR A SASH. A SMALL SPLIT TO THE SILK IS ON THE REAR RIGHT SIDE WAIST. WITH A SERIES OF PINHEAD HOLES ON THE REAR LEFT SHOULDER BLADE.
INNER PETERSHAM HAS A SMALL SPLIT ON ONE END.
