An opportunity to purchase a Medals Pair and Bronze War Plaque awarded to PTE. J.BOOTH of the Manchester Regiment.    

Group comprises the following:

DEATH PLAQUE - named to JAMES BOOTH 

WAR MEDAL - edge reads, "33360 PTE. J.BOOTH. MANCH. R."

VICTORY MEDAL - edge reads, "33360 PTE. J. BOOTH. MANCH.R"

The 12th (Service) Battalion, Manchester Regiment, was a unit of 'Kitchener's Army' formed immediately after the outbreak of the First World War. It saw action in the Ypres Salient in 1915–16, on the Somme in 1916, including actions at Mametz Wood and the Battle of Delville Wood, and in the Arras Offensive.  

Booth was killed in action on 17th September, 1916.

The Manchester Regiment was a line infantry regiment of the British Army in existence from 1881 until 1958. The regiment was created during the 1881 Childers Reforms, the amalgamation of the 63rd (West Suffolk) Regiment of Foot and the 96th Regiment of Foot as the 1st and 2nd battalions.

Both the medals and plaque are all in excellent condition.
