Fluorite on Dolomite

Penfield Quarry, Penfield, Monroe County, New York, USA

3.6cm x 3cm x 1.53cm

Ex. George Loud Collection

Description/Interesting Notes:

A classic example of fluorite with dolomite from the Penfield Quarry in New York!!! This specimen hosts a sharp, gemmy, elongated fluorite crystal prominently perched on a cluster of whitish dolomite crystals!!! The fluorite crystal exhibits razor-sharp cubic faces with glassy luster and gemmy clarity!!! The fluorite crystal exhibits a very slight purplish tone with some faint phantoms at the perimeter!!! The 1.4cm crystal is complete and in magnificent condition (there is a small, shallow cavity on one faces that is a natural feature)!!! The dolomite crystals provide a handsome contrast and exhibit sharp, lustrous faces as well!!! This specimen is from the noted collection of George Loud!!! We recently acquired the Franklin Collection of George Loud of Hilton Head, SC and while we were down there (assisting team Arkenstone with packaging the larger U.S. collection) we were able to also acquire a small group of exciting U.S. specimens that I will be dispersing over the next few months!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! ALL AUCTIONS END THURSDAY, MAY 16th!!!
