The good bacteria will thrive on the internal foams within the filter to help break down the waste (fish waste, excess fish food & plant matter) to ensure optimum water quality.

- Unplug the power, remove the filter from the aquarium, press and hold the side buckles to release the filter basket and also expose the impeller chamber, clean accordingly using a brush.

- Use aquarium water to clean the biochemical sponge, to prevent killing the friendly bacteria stored in the sponge, which is essential to reducing ammonia in your aquarium. This should be done every 2-4 weeks dependent on the amount of waste generated in your fish tank.

- Replace the sponge and bio media balls every 6 months.
