Mailed unpaid London WC December 24 1863. Received Quebec January 10 1864. The 25 cents charge represented 12½c postage and a similar amount fine. In this case the cover shows 4d Sterling that is 1d inland postage and 3d share of the fine. If you purchase more than one item please ignore the ebay invoice as it shows multiple postages for each lot. I will send you an invoice with a substantially reduced shipping and handling charge as I will combine lots. If you pay too much I will issue a partial refund.
