Cosmopolitan 1849 E-W.  The limited edition is inspired to the legendary epic of the gold rush which saw, starting from the year 1849, thousands of courageous individuals from all over the world undertaking the adventure of emigrating from the eastern states of America to the legendary West, in search of gold but also of a better life. An event which contributed to forging the American spirit with its optimism, tireless dynamism and belief in itself. The story of this journey is traced on barrel and cap: the pioneer's wagon trains give way to those of the gold prospectors, followed by the gradual colonisation of California, the construction of gold mines and the building of the railway.

Manufacturer and Year  Montegrappa, Italy -- 2005

Length  5-3/8".

Filling System  Takes international rollerball refills. A working Omas refill is installed. The pen unscrews just under the cone.

Color  The Cosmopolitan 1849 E-W special version in sterling silver, exclusively for the American market, decorated with fine lacquering and precious stones reproducing a star and the colors of the American flag on the top of the cap.   The story of the journey is traced on barrel and cap: the pioneer's wagon trains give way to those of the gold prospectors, followed by the gradual colonisation of California, the construction of gold mines and the building of the railway.  1849 E-W is realised in low-relief engraving, an exclusive technique which Montegrappa has perfected to achieve an engraving of varying depth with an exceptional three-dimensional quality in its details, a true picture sculpted from precious metal.
