Philbert Honanie is Coyote Clan from the Hopi village of Hotevilla on Third mesa. He is one of the first carvers to revive the old style, or traditional, method of kachina doll (katsina doll) carving. He  paints them using only natural pigments he collects and processes from around his village, and carves them from cottonwood root he gathers from the San Juan River in southern Utah. He creates kachina dolls to help people understand and appreciate the Hopi culture. He uses only a pocket knife to carve with, and he keeps his dolls simple to help people connect with the designs and motifs used in kachina doll carving

Because of the delicate nature of the Kachina, we can make no guarantees as to the condition it may arrive in after shipping (we will do our very best to prevent damage).  the item is as shown in the pictures.  if you would like additional pictures or information we will be happy to provide it.
