When it comes to amethyst there are so many different varieties, colours and grades available. The origin of this gemstone rough can vary as it is available in so many different countries.

The crème de la crème of the amethyst rough is called Serbian amethyst. This is an intense vivid purple of such saturation that we often see blue undertones and sometimes even red.

This is a difficult quality to come by especially in large sizes. When faceting a gemstone of such a unique custom design, there is roughly 50% of the weight lost in the result of this finished product.

The challenge begins when you get a chunk of amethyst rough that needs to be mapped out to obtain the best saturation, size and of course pure clarity.

This exotic gemstone started off as a 37.86 carat piece of natural rough.

By spending hours at the drawing table we are able to mark out the gemstone to create what we know would be an exceptional finished product.

When I have such an elegant and vivid gemstone to work with I know that it deserves a custom design as unique as the material that I am lucky enough to be working with.

By spending many many man hours of intricate and painstaking and meticulous work I have created a gemstone that is deserving of a very beautiful piece of jewellery or of course to be part of someone’s collection that will appreciate the gemstone and understand the workmanship involved.

The finished result is a 15.60 CRT amethyst.this is a loop clean,natural gemstone and is a true beauty to behold. This gemstone has very sharp and precise faceting and it’s even proportions. It has a spiralling diamond shaped faceted pavilion and a gorgeous three step tear on the table of the gemstone.

With an even girdle that has a squared mini Portuguese edge, this custom design would suit a men’s or women’s ring or indeed, even a pendant. The opportunities are endless when you have such a fantastic Gemstone to work with.

Having faceted only one of this design in a slightly smaller size in the past, we know that this larger gemstone will be a hit.

The last gemstone sold in four days to a local gentleman who was kind enough to show me the finished result of the pendant that he designed. It was truly breathtaking set in silver and yellow gold.
