The store's most successful collaboration ever, the Celia Birtwell for TopShop range comprises dresses reminiscent of the designer's late former husband, Ossie Clark's designs put together in an array of Birtwell's vintage prints. When her spring/summer 2006 collection went on sale in April,

Birtwell was overwhelmed by the response: hundreds of hopeful shoppers queued up outside before the store opened – by 3pm they were limited to buying just two pieces each and by the end of the day the range had sold out in the London region even after numerous deliveries. "I really enjoy working with TopShop," says Birtwell. "It's a very different procedure to the way Ossie and I used to work but there is an energy working with the team that is infectious. I was overwhelmed by the response, it's fabulous that my designs appeal to a broad range of young women today, it's like my work has come full circle."
